SOME OF THE WEIRDEST LAWS FROM AROUND THE WORLD

We all know that in general laws are for the good of the entire population, that’s why even if they’re annoying we tolerate them. But sometimes laws are just plain strange or stupid. Here are some prime examples:
#1 SLEEPING POLAR BEARS
If you are a resident of the state of Alaska and stumble upon a polar bear you’d like to have a photograph with, just don’t wake it up, otherwise you’ll be breaking the law.
#2 ESCAPE FROM PRISON
At the top of the list of laws written by imbeciles is Denmark. Three cheers for criminals there! We complain here in the United States that prisoners have it too easy, but Denmark really knows how to treat them grand. You see, if anyone tries to escape from jail there and is caught, as usually happens, you don’t have to be concerned at all, because escaping from prison there is not a crime. If you’re caught in the act of attempting to flee you’ll simply be returned to your cell to serve out the remainder of your sentence without any additional punishment.
#3 UFO PARKING
But France has topped even that law for stupidity. You see, their taking a real hard line with UFOs. Yes sir it’s true. What all drivers of UFOs must know before entering France is that you absolutely cannot under any circumstances park your spaceship in any vineyard in France.
#4 WHAT NOT TO NAME YOUR PIG
Here’s another winning law from France. Say if you love animals and were to move to the countryside and have a little farm with some horses, sheep, pigs. Wait! Did I say pigs? Well if you do own any pigs you had better not do one thing. You can call them by whatever name you want except for one — Napoleon! Yes, it is against the law in France to name your pig Napoleon.
#5 FORBIDDEN ARMOR
If you are a member of parliament in Britain, you’d better refrain from entering the House of Commons while wearing your suit of armor.
#6 ILLINOIS DEMANDS QUIET
Beware roosters living in Illinois! You’d better not be caught crowing closer than 300 feet to the nearest house. For chickens the distance is reduced to 200 feet. Think that’s all? Not by a long shot.
#7 ELK PROTECTION
Now let’s visit Alaska. This particular law is a perfect example of what happens when legislators have too much to drink while on the job. If you happen to own an airplane you’d better not get caught throwing a live elk out of it.
#8 READ CAREFULLY FOR YOUR DOG
But what do you expect from a state which gives it’s police permission to bite dogs? One law that would certainly get a lot of votes is the law of the land in Ohio. In this state a policeman is permitted to bite a dog if he is attempting to make it be quiet. So if you have a yappy mutt you’d better put a muzzle on him before walking him.
#9 BEER LAW
Probably the best law of all is in St. Louis. Known as the Fair Beer Law, it bans anyone from sitting on the pavement and drinking beer from a bucket.
#10 17 WOMEN IN ONE PLACE, NO!
Unless of course, you live in Pennsylvania. That’s where it’s illegal for more than 16 women to live together under the same roof, because 17 women living together is considered a brothel. But if 120 men want to live together, well they can go right ahead. Try explaining that one.
#11 FIREFIGHTERS MUST PREDICT THE FUTURE
Firefighters in Ohio are charged with predicting the future. All fire hydrants must be checked exactly one hour before a fire starts.
These are just a sample of some of the downright stupid and senseless laws that exist out there. The list is really endless, from not being permitted to park your flying saucer in a vineyard in France, to being forbidden to die in parliament in Britain, to not being allowed to wink at a strange woman in Iowa, to requiring permission from the mayor of the city in Oklahoma if you are a dog and wish to have a group gathering consisting of three or more dogs. But Oklahoma also protects its dogs from people making faces at them. If you do that to a dog in this state you can be fined or even imprisoned.
What were the people who created these laws thinking or drinking, is unknown, maybe they just wanted to give the public a good laugh. Well, whatever their motives, they certainly succeeded when it comes to the laughter.
